Don’t forget: it’s our AGM tomorrow night! It’s Barry’s last meeting at the helm of the mighty Geordie Chapter, so get on down to Nissan SLC tomorrow night and see what’s what.
Note: the Government has introduced new COVID restrictions, and we have to adhere to Nissan’s risk assessment – here’s the details:
Face coverings must be worn at all times until you are seated where they may be removed if you feel comfortable to do so. Hand sanitizers are available at the entry to the room and around it – please use them. Tables are set out to a maximum of six people. Please do not move the chairs or tables around.
In the event that all the seats are taken, please stand around the perimeter of the room.
See you all from seven pm onwards. We will get underway at seven-thirty!
We’ve finally got details of our Santa Ride, 2021!

… and all good things have to come to an end! Our Director, Barry Gillespie, stands down at the end of this year, and he attended his final Committee meeting tonight. It was an extended affair: Barry tried to keep us all on our toes!
Barry has steered the Geordie Chapter ship diligently over the past ten years and he will be a big miss on the Committee. I’m sure he’s got lots of things in the pipeline to keep out of mischief.
Here’s a couple of pictures from the meeting …
Oh look, here’s something worth shouting about … Geordie Chapter is pleased to announce the Heart ‘n’ Soul rally 2022!

One of Ladies of Harley officers and Road Crew member Trish Gillespie led the ride on Saturday 9 October. We started at Wynyard Park Services, just off the A19 (makes a change from the OK Diner – although Cross Rob still managed to head over there before realising the error of his ways!).
There were about sixty bikes on the day, including Road Crew, and we had a wild and twisty ride over to the new NY500 café between Malton and Pickering. As we headed over Castletown Moor, it was absolutely Baltic with fog and sheep. Not a great combination …
Things cheered up no end as we dropped down and whizzed through some very picturesque villages in North Yorkshire.
After the NY500, we skipped Sutton Bank in favour of some other very steep roads and headed over to Northallerton on our way back towards the A174 and The Gables.
It was a great day, with a lovely presentation to Nathan at the beginning of a new GC hoodie and a picture of us all from the Heart ‘n’ Soul rally.
Gateshead Harley-Davidson is getting into the Scary Season with a bunch of money-off deals during October. There’s also a Happy Harleyween event on 30.10. Click here for details.
We had our annual ABC Ride on 18 September – with a promise of some sunshine at least on part of the route. We all gathered, from far and wide, at Albemarle Barracks for coffee and a bacon buttie, ready for the off at 11.00 am.
John Nichol was Ride Leader for the day and we had a mix of A-roads, B-roads and some slightly dodgy looking unnamed roads! The good folk of Alnwick cordoned off a small space for us again, and we all parked up ready for some more sustenance.
Up and away again, we headed off on vary familiar roads towards RAF Boulmer. We didn’t make it to the usual spot this year but landed right next the flagpole ready for flag-raising and a rendition of the Last Post.
The weather remained gloomy pretty much all day and we had a brief spell of rain along the way, as we headed back to Tynemouth RNLI Lifeboat Station.
This ride always take a huge amount of organisation: Jimmy described it once as three rides in one. There are also the various arrangements in getting us into and out of the various compounds. So, hats off to John for getting us safely round!
As ever, all money collected goes to Help for Heroes.
There are some changes for our 2021 Committee and Road Crew …
Allen Glasper is our new Assistant Director and Mark Leadbitter is now our Assistant Head Road Captain.
Many congratulations to Allen and Mark!
We had our first Geordie Chapter face-to-face meeting tonight – the first one since March 2020! We had some great support and it was fab to see everyone again.
A big welcome to all our new members … hope to see you all out and about on the remaining ride-outs and events in 2021. Many thanks to Nissan SLC for their hospitality and for providing the pies and peas for everyone!
Our Activities Officer, Simon Field, has posted details of the End of Term party. Click here for details.
