DIRECTOR NOTICE TO MEMBERS – PLEASE READ

DIRECTOR NOTICE TO MEMBERS – PLEASE READ

This notice takes immediate effect and overrides ALL previously communicated information to members on the subject matter.

H.O.G. Chapters, as Owners Groups, are not to be affiliated with any form of motorcycle club – MC or MCC.

Our group is H.O.G. based, and for Harley-Davidson owners/riders/pillions and enthusiasts of all things Harley-Davidson.

Other than the Chapter name and H.O.G. Eagle (2 patch), no other third patch should be displayed to represent a bottom rocker insinuating a 3 patch motorcycle club.

No MC support patches are allowed to be displayed alongside the H.O.G. patches.

These rules are designed specifically for all members of H.O.G. and any member displaying a support patch/Coalition patch needs to remove them immediately.

After various recent events, our Chapter has become the target of unwanted attention. Photographs of our members wearing support patches have been forwarded to MC clubs throughout the UK and questions asked why we are supporting our local MC by wearing their support patches while we as H.O.G. are not supposed to be affiliated to any MC clubs.  This has allegedly resulted in H.O.G. members being banned from riding through parts of the country wearing H.O.G. patches and being forced over to have them removed. I have explained that the situation in the North East is very different to the rest of the UK as we are part of the North East Coalition which are a large number of local bike clubs who raise and donate a fantastic amount of money to local charities each year and that the local MC’s involvement ensures its smooth running.

Although we will continue to support the Coalition as a Chapter, we are unable to carry on wearing the support patches.  This order comes not from the Committee or from H.O.G. UK as such, but is a direct instruction from the Motor Company and H.O.G. USA.

WITH IMMEDIATE EFFECT all support patches/Coalition patches must be removed where displayed with the Chapter rocker and Eagle patch – no exceptions.   Continuing to wear them will result in immediate expulsion from the Chapter, and potentially from H.O.G.   No MC Support Tshirts/memorabilia is to be worn when attending Chapter rides/events or when representing the Chapter.

The situation is impacting not just the Geordie Chapter, but other Chapters in the UK. To avoid any trouble when riding out of area and attending rallies in other areas, do not wear the patches.

Any questions please contact me directly.  I will talk about this at the monthly meeting on Thursday.

Remember – this is directly from H.O.G. USA.

International Female Riders Day

On Saturday 3rd May, International Female Riders Day, the Geordie Chapter had a ride down to our new Sponsoring Dealer Leeds Harley Davidson.

The ride was led by Anna Smith and around 50 bikes participated.

A great route, down to Richmond, Masham, Leyburn, Ripon then down into Leeds. Some great roads and views of the countryside.

On arrival at Leeds Harley Davidson we were met by Aire Valley Chapter and St Leger Chapter as well as the staff at the dealership. After munching our way through the buffet provided by the Chapters and Dealership it was time for photos of us altogether.

A brilliant day and thank you to all involved.

Saddle up Saturday’s

On 8th March we held our first Saddle up Saturday followed on the 29th March Saddle up Saturday 2 – 2 great rides for all members new and old to get back to the riding season.

Saddle up 1 was led by John Nichol and took in a nice route through Ponteland to the Blacksmiths Tea Rooms and then on through Otterburn, along the military road and back to the dealership, just what we needed after the winter.

Saddle up 2 was led by Jimmy Jobson and starting again through Ponteland we then headed through Northumberland on an 85 mile loop. Stopping at Brockbushes Tea Rooms for a bite to eat we then headed south on the A68, through the countryside and finishing at Gateshead Harley Davidson.

2 great rides, fully marshalled by the road crew and well attended.
